Construction

Paoli – Mr. Jon Shellenberger

The Construction Trades program at Lost River Career Cooperative is designed to teach and train high school students about the different aspects of residential construction.  Upon starting in the Construction Trades pathway students first study tool use, safety, and the principles of construction in a classroom/laboratory setting.  Students continuing on the pathway then move on to gain hands-on training and knowledge by building a complete house in the community. These courses integrate academic and technical training into a hands-on, work-based instructional setting.

Many of the juniors and seniors in the program also take advantage of dual credit opportunities that are offered as a partnership between Lost River Career Cooperative and Vincennes University.  Paoli High School students who take Construction Trades are eligible to receive credit for up to three VU classes (6 credit hours) which are part of VU’s construction technologies program. There is no cost for students to participate in these dual credit opportunities and the credits can contribute toward a post-secondary education at VU and/or to meet the requirements of a Technical Honors diploma at Paoli Jr. Sr. High School.
